NC FOUNDATIONAL CAPABILITIES INITIATIVES
Policy Development
& Support
The Policy Development and Support Learning Collaborative offers opportunities for building skills, relationships and trust among policy-engaged public health partners in North Carolina.
Our goal is to help public health workers effectively navigate and engage in policy work that benefits public health outcomes in their communities.

Public Health Policy Forum
Join monthly 75-minute virtual sessions to gain insight from knowledgeable policy experts and discuss real-life policy questions and challenges. Sessions emphasize timely policy topics, navigating boundaries of advocacy as public employees, and actionable insights for day-to-day policy work.

Policy Skill-Building Seminar Series
Take a deeper dive into the legislative structure, history and processes for public health policy change – and learn how to effectively navigate the policy environment in North Carolina. This 6-session on-line seminar requires enrollment and commitment to all sessions (2-hours each). Two cohorts will be offered in 2026.

Policy Resource Hub
Access policy-related resources from ongoing forums and sessions – including an overview of the NC Public Health Relationship-Building & Legislative Engagement Activity Toolkit – and links to legislative resources, state government and general statutes, policy news and advocacy, and relationship-building toolkits.
